Imagine, a mother opens the cupboard and finds little to eat. She is willing to go without for herself, but her child is hungry. She has a few dollars that needs to stretch until payday and knows it won’t go far enough. Having heard about a food pantry in town, she gathers her courage and walks through our door.

As this mother signs in at our desk, I can see her hands shaking. She begins to tell me her story about the struggles and hardships she faces. How she has never asked for help and doesn’t even want to be here. I explain that the mission at Helping Hands Food Pantry is to serve our community, to support families, and to fight hunger. I tell her that when she chose to walk through our door, it allowed us to walk together, finding all the available resources for her family to thrive.

Every month families are welcome to come to our pantry and pick what food is best for their household. Every order includes nonperishables, meats, dairy products, baked goods, fruits, and vegetables. In addition to food, we provide everyday essential items: laundry soap, toilet paper, shampoo, hand soap, feminine products, bladder protection, diapers and more.
